Vol. 1 & Vol. 2

Simultaneously released in 2017, Vol. 1 and Vol. 2, are stand alone albums that contrast and compliment each other. Deer Tick have always been about contrasts. Traditionally, a listener could find a mix of softer folk/country ballads and manic garage rock anthems on the same Deer Tick album, and cynical and depressing lyrics imposed onto bright and serene musical arrangements. The latter contrasts still exist here while the former have been divided into two separate albums. Highlights include the loungy ode to a former problem-drinking nostalgia in ‘Cocktail’ and an emotional piano instrumental inspired by the Orlando nightclub shooting in ‘Pulse’.
