Kemba dropped his new EP, The World is Watching, in response to the killing of George Floyd. The protest EP contains four songs about police brutality, racism, and the Black Lives Matter protests that swept the nation and the world. The title of the EP references a popular chant by Vietnam war protesters, “The whole world is watching“, that erupted as demonstrators were being beaten by state police and pulled away into vans. The length of the mini album is 8 minutes and 46 seconds. This is the symbolic time that officers knelt on Floyd’s neck. The songs showcase what Kemba has already proved he is great at on last year’s full length, Gilda. Combining conscious hip hop with the urgency of his own unique flow and this time weaving protest style chants into the mix.
